So…On the Bright Side

Just your typical 40 something Mom making lemonade out of insanity

Choosing the Bright Side

So…On the Bright Side came to light along the journey of determining what ultimately makes me happy.  I had just left my job of 15 years, and while I loved it for a really long time, it just wasn’t what I needed to fulfill my spirit anymore.  It paid the bills and allowed me a wonderful work family, but it felt more like a “have to” than a “want to.”  Over the years, I had changed.  I finished my MBA, I got married.  I had kids, and the list goes on.  My priorities changed, and I needed to adjust accordingly.  That’s when I took a step back and realized that my everyday world was everything I was searching for.  It was a montage of endless insanity filled with infinite meaning that was oddly inspiring.  I just started writing and could not seem to stop!  I paired my “no filter” storytelling passion with the ordinary occurrences of daily life. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me feel so much emotion that I cannot even describe!    This blog is not just for moms, but the authenticity of my kids fuels many of my stories.  It hits on the sentimental and the silver lining of everyday moments, with a twist of raw life and all of its hilarity.  So, if you’re wanting a laugh with an uplifting vibe, kick back and stay awhile.  I’d love to be a part of your day!

The hubs is definitely an inspiration for my stories.  His kindness knows no limits, but in reality, he’s still your standard guy just trying to understand how his wife is never on time and why daughters are batshit crazy.  He’s the punching bag, no doubt, and gets blamed for everything from lost shoes to bad hair days.  Poor guy is basically screwed.

My girls.  They look dreamy in this picture, so you would never know that they were just having a contest to see who could “arm fart” the loudest.  The little one was surprisingly good!  These feisty little rascals keep me on my toes every moment of every day.  They make me laugh, they make me melt, but most of all, they make me realize the important things in life.

These are my parents.  They are madly in love, and they tend to overshare in areas that a daughter is just not interested in hearing about.  They are insanely blunt in their delivery, are prone to making the inappropriate perfectly normal, and are the source of great literary entertainment!

Friends are the spice of life.  They have seen you at your best and the lucky few have seen you at your worst.  They span the decades and are accurate representations of who you were at different times in life.  They add fun to the mundane, keep you sane through life’s inevitable ups and downs, and provide more stories than I know what to do with.  The level of appropriateness depends on the friends, and I love them all!

In the profound words of Monty Python, "Always look on the bright side of life!"
